The Family Within The Family Of Christ

The bible talks about both an earthly family, made up of husband and wife and usually  children, and the family of God,  which is all believers united together by the bond of faith.

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

Genesis 2:24

  •

"...Be fruitful and nultiply, and replenish the earth..."

Genesis 1:28

  •

"Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God."

Ephesians 2:19

We owe it to our children to present them to the Lord.  For they belong to Him first.  We as parents, have the responsibility to teach our children about the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).  We have a responsibility to bring our children to church (Joshua 24:15).   Some people send thier children to church, but we need to lead by example.  Many of us go by the old cliche', "Do as I say, and not as I do."  How many of you know, that does not always work?  Children are more apt to follow what is appealing to the eye, before they listen to what the heart and mind says.  It is our responsibility to lead them to the road of salvation.

1Kings 15:3 says:  He walked in the sins of His father."  We must be careful how we live our lives in front of our children.  They will mimic what they see. Proverbs 20:11 says, "Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right."  Sometimes we look at todays generation and question what and who is to blame.  It is not only society, but many of us as parents are responsible for our children's actions today, whether they are 8 years old, or 80 years old.  If we live more of the life that we confess, and teach our children the way of the Lord, we will develope stronger families in the Lord.  We must always remember to do what is right in the eyesight of God.   John said in 3 John 1:4  "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."
